22.04 to 24.04 upgrade faild

Bought my Dell Precision 3550 with Ubuntu 18.04 installed roughly 2020-2021. Went through a couple of upgrades and landed on 22.04 a couple of years ago. Yesterday, I attempted an upgrade from Ubuntu 22.04 to 24.04 via the Automatic Software Update app. All current updates had been installed, as I try to keep up with them as they present themselves. Had to click through a few prompts, but in the end, the upgrade began. I expanded the dialog box so I was looking at the scrolling terminal display. It had said it could take a couple of hours. Short story short, I fell asleep watching TV. When I get back to the upgrade, it's a backlit black screen with just an underscore prompt. No choice but to power down. Upon powering back up I get this message:

[ 0.74515] tpm tpm0: [Firmware Bug] TPM interrupt not working. polling instead

BIOS firmware is up to date. I'm not an Ubuntu expert by any means. I used to be an IT guy. MSCE Windows 2000, MCSA Windows 2003. Left the business in 2009 and haven't been back to it since. It is a perishable skill-set. I decided to go with Ubuntu with this PC just to get away from MS products and all their BS. Hoping there's something I can do to get this thing back running again. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John
