Ubuntu 22 slow boot: systemd-modules-load.service > 13 seconds & modprobe@drm.service > 13 seconds

Ok, here's another one with complaints about slow boot. I have two processes that take a long time. I have looked through quite a lot of questions regarding slow boot, and these processes usually are reported taking milliseconds instead of 13 seconds a piece.

  • systemd-modules-load.service > 13 seconds
  • modprobe@drm.service > 13 seconds

I inspected output of certain tips/commands, and they didn't help. The systemd-modules-load.service had one module ppdev that took 13 seconds. But after blacklisting it indeed disappears, but this process still takes up more than 13 seconds.

Notable programs installed:

  • Virtual Box
  • Docker containerisation (no docker-desktop)

Notable possibly strange things:

  • on every boot I see a "press ctrl+c to interrupt file system checks"

I have recently installed an NVMe disk and a new GPU (RX550) and did a complete re-install after that. However, the boot time is disappointing after changing from an SSD to NVMe.

Any help in understanding these delays and how to decrease them would be greatly appreciated.
