Ubuntu 22.04 LTS: Only one monitor can work at a time

On my old PC, I've been using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS with a VGA connected monitor. It works fine in this setup, which only uses one screen.I have connected a second monitor, using HDMI, but it was not recognized immediately. Therefore I have rebooted the computer, and now only the HDMI connected screen is recognized. It looks like the VGA one doesn't receive any input.I have read that a magical "detect monitor" button in the "display settings" tool could help me, but it just doesn't show.Output of "xrandr --listmonitors" with just HDMI monitor connected is

xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output defaultMonitors: 1 0: +*default 1920/508x1080/286+0+0 default

Please help.
