Is it safe to transfer data using a pendrive connected to a mechanical switch between a internet system(Ubuntu) and standalone system

I want to transfer data from internet machine(Ubuntu) to a standalone machine. What can be the problems which I need to address if I automate the process using a mechanical switch(connected to a pendrive)
